Settled in 1841 many of the ports historic buildings still survive, one in particular is the former Bank of Victoria building which is now the home of the Gippsland Regional Maritime Museum. The hotel overlooks the port which is home to fishing trawlers and situated at the southern end of the Ninety Mile beach.
