Boolimba Bluff

Discover ancient Aboriginal rock art and allow yourself to be blown away by the beauty of the Carnarvon Gorge. The Boolimba Bluff towers 200 metres above Carnarvon Creek and is accessed by a track that passes through a diverse range of habitats - from forests full of ancient ferns, to rugged rocky outcrops dotted with giant boulders. If you are a birdwatcher or nature lover, you'll be interested to know that more than 170 species of bird can be found in this area. It's best to do the Boolimba Bluff walk in the early morning when it's still cool as there are several very steep sections that will have you working up a sweat. The 6.4 kilometre return trail is accessed via the visitor area in the Boolimba Bluff section of the Carnarvon National Park. It is a difficult grade and will take about three hours to complete....

Carnarvon Gorge offers camping in the Carnarvon Gorge visitor area during the Easter, winter and spring Queensland school holidays. Book early for seasonal camping in the visitor area to avoid disappointment. Big Bend camping area, reached by a 9.7 kilometre walk, is open all year. Remote camping in other sections of the park is also available. Mount Moffatt has four camping areas, each with a limited number of camp sites. Ka ka Mundi and Salvator Rosa offer bush camping experiences. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. Rolleston is in the southeast of Queensland's Central Highlands and is the nearest town to the world renowned Carnarvon Gorge and Carnarvon National Park. Rolleston is 70 kilometres east of Springsure and can be reached by travelling along the Great Inland Way.
